St. Michaels Museum 2024 Annual Appeal

We are delighted to report that 2024 was a great year for St Michaels Museum. We experienced many enthusiastic visitors, walking tour visitors and our tours with American Cruise Lines that dock in St Michaels each spring and fall.  Our regular Saturday Historic and Frederick Douglass Walking Tours continue to provide visitors to St. Michaels with historical information on St. Michaels and Frederick Douglass’ connection to St. Michaels.

We are excited that our July 4th Celebration and Children’s Parade was a great success!

Leonard Palmer’s Diorama of Fremont Street

We were pleased to exhibit with the St Michaels Library, Leonard Palmer’s 17’ Diorama that showed the vibrant African American community that existed on the West side of Fremont Street in the early 20th century. A small part of his Diorama is currently on exhibit in our Museum.

This winter our Museum board is planning to repair our two deteriorating signs on East Chestnut St and St Mary’s Square. And we are also in the process designing a new sign to identify our Museum and interpretive signs of our three Museum buildings. Our goal is to highlight our Museum for residents and visitors.
